Integration of Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage for Fast-Response Storage in a Hybrid Solar PV-Biogas with Pumped-Hydro Energy Storage Power Plant

Electric distribution systems face many issues, such as power outages, high losses, voltage sags, and low stability, which are caused by the intermittent nature of renewable generation large changes in load demand. To deal with these a system has been designed using both short- long-term energy storage superconducting magnetic (SMES) pumped-hydro (PHES). The aim this paper is to propose metaheuristic-based optimization method find optimal size hybrid solar PV-biogas generator SMES-PHES conduct financial analysis. This based on an efficient algorithm called “enhanced whale optimization” (EWOA), along proposed objective functions constraints system. EWOA employed reduce system’s life cycle cost (LCC) improve its reliability, serve performance indicators for sizing grid-connected compared other metaheuristic techniques, including African vulture (AVOA), grey wolf (GWO), water (WCA). numerical results show that combination can successfully LCC increase making work better.
